TUTORING PROGRAM
Tutoring is held at Kingo Lutheran Church in Shorewood and involves students from Hephatha Lutheran Church on 17th and Locust. This is a cooperative effort of members from Memorial and Kingo Lutheran Churches
- The program is held at Kingo Lutheran ChurchThe first session is from 5-6 PM with supper from 6 to 6:30 PM. The second session is from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Students from both groups will have supper together from 6 to 6:30 PM. This allows for flexibility for tutors to choose the best time for them.
- Each church can trade off or make arrangements for providing supper. This will be for about 25 people each Wednesday and involve simple things such as sandwiches, (or makings! kids love to make their own.), chips, garnishes, cut up fruit, milk and juices, sloppy joes, fruit jello, etc.
We are looking for the following items from church members: used encyclopedia, simple dictionaries, atlases, almanacs, lined paper, simple games like checkers, scrabble, cards, pencils, pens, crayons, washable markers. WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR THE FOLLOWING: Tutors, people to donate funds for this program, people to help prepare and serve suppers. Donations to this program can be put in the pew envelopes and marked "TUTORING MINISTRY PROGRAM."

Inner City Partnerships with Hephatha and Reformation Lutheran Churches
- Summer Work Programs whereby inner city kids are given positive employment in a church setting in the summer.
- Contribute monthly to these churches with food for their food pantries.
- Attend church services and provide lunch after Sunday School for about 60 kids at Hephatha several times each year.
- Provide a bicycle ministry whereby people donate bicycles which are fixed up and repaired and given to kids at Hephatha and Reformation. Over 200 bikes have been recycled in this way since 1994. Locks are given to kids with their bikes. For information on how to donate bicycles, please contact the church office.
St. Vincent De Paul Meal Program
- Memorial brings food and volunteers to serve at the St. Vincent de Paul meal site at 10th and Madison Street the first Sunday of each month.
- Thirty casseroles (serving 10 people per casserole) are taken along with 16 five quart buckets of jello and fruit and 18 large cans of vegetables.
- We are always looking for more volunteers to make casseroles, prepare jello buckets and serve the meal.

Luther Manor
- Luther Manor is a retirement community owned and operated by a corporation of Lutheran Churches, of which Memorial is a part.
- Luther Manor provides a wide variety of services to the Lutheran community including a Retirement and Nursing Home and Adult Day Care programs.
- The Luther Manor Auxiliary helps raise money for special needs and provides information services.

Lutheran Social Services
- Every ELCA congregation in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan is asked to support and become partners in this vast network of programs related to social needs.
- Our congregation supports LSS in the amount of $4 per baptized member.
- Family and individual counseling, foster care, residential care, adoption services, services for the elderly, runaway programs, refugee services, chaplaincy services and other community services are provided by this agency of the church.

Lutheran World Relief
- The Sunday School has been active in collecting items for School Kits for the LWR drive in the fall.
- In addition, quilts are sewn for Lutheran World Relief and sent overseas to third world countries.
